Curious Cats are enrichment classes designed to nurture your child's curiosity. Science club classes do not follow the national curriculum and so therefore are not suitable as a replacement for school/home education, instead they are designed to enhance and enrich your child's learning.
Children are born with a natural curiosity, in order for children to thrive they need to play, experiment and create.
The club is suitable for children aged 2-12 years.
Each week there is a new topic for children to explore. And they complete a variety of different activities, experiments and crafts.
These classes are designed to inspire a curiosity for learning, discovery and adventure.
I started a science club in October 2021 for children that are home educated. The general guidance age for these classes is 2 to 12 years old.
The emphasis of the classes is all about fun! Children will be encouraged to experiment, design and create. These classes are not designed to replace or follow curriculum learning, but instead to enrich and inspire them to think creatively and be curious.
Hi, I'm Nikki, I'm a fully qualified science teacher with QTS (qualified teacher status).
After graduating in 2011, I have taught science in two local schools and I currently run my own private tuition business. I'm a strong believer that learning should be practical and creative. I have bags of experience in finding engaging fun ways for children to learn. And a wealth of experience in working with children with SEN. At both schools I was responsible for science club and was amazed to see children become so enthusiastic about learning when doing something creative and practical.
Before teaching I worked with children and young people for ten years at childrens holiday clubs, as an SEN TA and an ELSA at two local schools. I was also a tennis coach at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon.
You might also recognize me as co-owner of Flopsy and Dot Messy Play, I absolutely loved working with my friend Katherine to create exciting and imaginatively themed messy play.
Or, you might know me as founder of Dotty Bumble Meet Ups, which is a free community for local parents to combat isolation and loneliness that I have run since 2018.
